Despite support from all three major presidential candidates/senators, the earmark moratorium was handily defeated in the Senate.

Not a surprise, but a disappointment. President Bush's Executive Order against committee earmarks that receive no actual vote remains unaffected, but this bill would have been a second dagger into the heart (ok, maybe the thigh) of the D.C. pork-culture.
Here's the full run down of the votes. It is worth 15 minutes to tell any "nay" Senator representing you about your disappointment in his/her vote.

Not glad to see McCain supporter and my Republican Senator John Warner on the wrong side of this vote. Wouldn't want to damage your reputation in the "club" on your way out the door I suppose.

Hey John! It's been a long time since I've seen you. We've been back in NE Texas for about 5 years now (Pittsburg). How's the rest of the family doing?
